Put on your headset, grab your clipboard and see if you have what it takes to be a head coach in the National Football League. EA announced that NFL Head Coach 09 will feature Indianapolis Colts’ head coach Tony Dungy on the game’s cover. NFL Head Coach 09 is a unique NFL experience that gives gamers the power to make decisions that define their career and ultimately the fate of their franchise as a head coach in the NFL. “In NFL Head Coach 09, you have complete control of the franchise’s destiny,” “From draft day to game day, your decisions impact the team’s success and make or break a team’s road to the Super Bowl.”
In 2007, Dungy became the first African-American coach to win a Super Bowl when the Indianapolis Colts defeated the Chicago Bears 29-17 in Super Bowl XLI. On the surface you can understand that this was necessary as the PS3 has not done as well as anticipated and heads were going to roll. What you wouldn’t expect is the rumor mill to fly with news that Harrison left Sony to try and revive Atari. The pioneer company of video games that started in the early 70’s was Atari, but flamed out when Nintendo debuted and completely dominated the market. We fast forward to present day and Sony who dominated the market in video gaming until Nintendo came along and with the power of Wii took control again. Atari has been dormant for decades so it is still unlikely they can make a dent in the market but with Harrison on board anything is possible because Harrison is a visionary and carries clout throughout the industry.
What does this mean for Sony and the much anticipated Home? The old regime is out so who will lead them into the next chapter now that there is fierce competition from Microsoft and Nintendo?

Like so many basketball gamers I was really looking forward to NBA 2K this season. It was of course the better of the two basketball games, supposedly. The game is fine but the lack of roster updates, player stat updates, and bug fixes shows that the company that makes the game and hopes to compete against EA is missing the key ingredient for success, extended playability. The game came out in November but here it is February and there has been minimal updates and only one roster update. 2K Sports didn’t even feel the need to do anything in the game around All-Star weekend unlike their competition. The biggest complaint amongst the forum community for 2K users is the lack of roster updates and the regular online rosters being so outdated. Many of the players on the bench have been cut or waived but you are still stuck with them on your team. If 2K Sports is ever to be taken seriously in the sports genre then they are going to have to step up their attention to detail and not rest on their initial release of a product. This was the downfall of EA for Madden and they had to go above and beyond to maintain their dominance. 2K Sports makes a realistic game no doubt but once you have played it a few months without any updates and all the glitches then you find yourself at your local Gamestop looking to trade it in and that is ashamed because it would otherwise be a keeper.
